Cross-domain application and specializations

Is able to integrate ethnoarts activities and principles into a wide variety of projects involving other domains of specialization.

Ethnoarts workers should be able to not only understand but also identify opportunities for collaboration and integration of ethnoarts into other kinds of projects. The worker will intentionally engage with other domains and seek out opportunities for collaboration. Other domains include Literacy, MLE, SE, CD, MUSE, BT, TH, ATH, CMS and more. The goal is for teams to work together towards program goals, rather than each domain planning and carrying out their activities in isolation.

Media

No Competency:
1. Observe other domains at work.
2. Attend another domain's Community of Practice
3. Attend EMDC.online training sessions.
4. Join an EMDC.online community dedicated to media.
5. Explore the SIL International Media Services website.
Has knowledge about:
1. Assist with a media project
2. Attend a workshop or training offered by SIL International Media Services
3. Read the SIL Digital Strategy Guide
Can do with Assistance:
1. Cooperate with a media specialist on a project
2. Design and implement a cross-domain project with a community
3. Collaborate on a project with a specialist from another domain
Can do independently:
1. Create and/or collaborate with others for locally-appropriate, ethnoarts-infused media projects.

Trauma Healing

No Competency:
1. Explore the Trauma Healing Institute's website.
2. Participate in a Trauma Healing workshop.
3. Learn about trauma healing basics.
Has knowledge about:
1. Attend a Trauma Healing CoP, or EMDC.online session.
2. Become a Trauma Healing facilitator.
3. Attend a workshop or training offered by the Trauma Healing department.
Can do with Assistance:
1. Become a Trauma Healing master facilitator.
2. Attend an Arts and Trauma Healing class, such as this one offered by DIU.
3. Design and implement a cross-domain project with a community
4. Collaborate on a project with a specialist from another domain
5. Obtain the Graduate Certificate in Arts and Trauma Healing from DIU.
Can do independently:

Scripture Engagement

No Competency:
1. Observe SE specialists and consultants at work
2. Read Dye's 8 Conditions for Scripture Engagement
3. Familiarize yourself with the research questions and explanatory videos on the EMDC.guide site.
4. Attend the Scripture Engagement CoP (or other SE-related sessions) on EMDC.online.
5. Explore scripture-engagement.org
Has knowledge about:
1. Do a Scripture Engagement assessment with a community (alongside an Initial Community Arts List)
2. Participate in or facilitate particular SE activities under the supervision of an SE worker.
3. Attend a workshop or training offered by the Scripture Engagement department.
4. Read Participatory Methods for Scripture Engagement.
5. Read Arts Development for Scripture Engagement.
6. Observe an SE Consultant offering guidance and support to a community.
Can do with Assistance:

Literacy

No Competency:
1. Observe literacy workshops and activities.

3. Do an initial training for the "Arts in Literacy and Education Material Development” course. There is online training at least once a year showing the integration of local arts into the material development and application processes.
Can do independently:
1. Take the Literacy Megacourse at DIU.
2. After some application and experience, do a second training with literacy and arts workers, but be part of the facilitation team.
3. The Payap University MA program in Language Development has a focused track on Literacy and a focused track on ethnoarts.

Translation

No Competency:
1. Observe a translation project.
2. Read the Orality Journal issue on Translation, Literacy, and Orality.
Has knowledge about:
1. Join EMDC.online sessions or the EMDC BT Training and Development CoP
2. Take basic linguistics classes:
