The Arts Consultant will be living and/or working in a culture different from their own. For those serving in their own cultural context, these competencies might be applied in a reflexive way.
No Competency:
•Participate in pre-field training with a sending organization
Has knowledge about:
Participate in the EthnoArts Community of Practice, both virtually and in-person (when offered).
Take Second Language and Culture Acquisition at DIU, or a similar course at another institution.
Take a course in Cultural Anthropology: DIU - AA4370 Cultural Anthropology or other related courses from DIU or another institution such as Payap, ANCC, etc.
DIU - AL4304 Introduction to Language Structure
The main linguistics courses offered at PYU, DIU, ANCC, Moorelands, etc.
Participate in a linguistics workshop or training event organized by partner organizations or local entities
DIU - AA4350 Language and Society or other related courses from DIU or another institution such as Payap, ANCC, etc.
Can do with Assistance:
Facilitate CoP, webinar or other discussions
Self-assessment with debrief from mentor
Live in a cross-cultural situation (fieldwork)
Take a course on mentoring from Mentoring Matters.
Can do independently:
Keep a regular reading schedule; continue to extend your personal understanding of ethnoarts research and applications and concepts.
Submit analyses to REAP.
