Relationships & Mentoring with Local Artists
Is able to seek out and build relationships with local artists and others in the community where they serve.
Ethnoarts personnel should be working closely with local artists, leaders, and other stakeholders. Foundational to ethnoarts is working alongside communities, and their involvement is critical to the success of any project as well as its long-term vitality.
Meeting a community and its arts

Read the Creating Local Arts Together (CLAT manual), especially Step 1
attend events in your community which include artistic performances
Has knowledge about:
Create an Initial Community Arts List (ICAL)
Do the recommended activities in CLAT manual Step 1
Observe a mentor or other ethnoarts person work with a community
Read Spradley's The Ethnographic Interview
Attend EthnoArts Research Methods at DIU, Payap (or similar)

Do a CLAT project with a local community
Create a network analysis of all the artists and stakeholders in a community
